Put as simply as possible, NCS is a gathering of men who want to experience life-changing relationships with each other under the umbrella of a friendship with Jesus. NCS is not a church group, a bible study, an accountability group, a speaker forum or a men’s fellowship. It’s just men joined by the common desire to experience deep and lasting friendships, with each other and with Jesus. NCS is a deliberate community of opportunity. It’s an opportunity for friendships that result from transparency and authenticity. It’s an opportunity to do some good for yourself and others through honesty, authenticity, fellowship and worship. It’s an opportunity to deepen your relationship with Jesus. And it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in our families, communities and the marketplace. NCS believes that the goal of transformed lives is revealing the Kingdom on earth and NCS men desire to make that happen.
Because NCS is about friendships with each other and with God, it’s not the kind of structured place you might find in other organizations. Yes, we do have meetings. Yes, we do have retreats. Yes, we do get involved in service projects. But those are only vehicles that offer us the chance to connect, be with each other and get to know each other better. The essence of NCS is what occurs outside of and apart from the formal gatherings. We have learned that we need friends. Our lives were filled with acquaintances, fellow workers, clients and vendors, but they were absent of real comrades; other men who share their unmasked lives with us. NCS is the place where that can all change. It’s not a location. It’s an attitude and a commitment. We are for each other. We show up. We belong. We live life together in the pursuit of God and authentic interaction. We discovered that we needed help in all kinds of ways, that other guys needed help too and that help is most valuable and most valued when we find it with brothers-in-arms.
In the process of becoming NCS, we have learned that we are first and foremost servants – of each other and of God. This service is all about putting aside our individual needs and comforts for the benefit of brothers. We live the slogan, “I’ve got your back.” That is the beginning of an entirely new way to live.
